ARQUIMEA, from its Healthcare area, has launched Well_iD, an innovative tool that, by means of genetic analysis, makes it possible to detect predispositions to health alterations with the aim of prolonging the time until their manifestation or even preventing them from appearing.
The first test developed by ARQUIMEA is Well_iD Derma, a genetic test that evaluates the genetic predisposition to premature ageing and other alterations that condition the health, appearance and well-being of the skin.
This milestone marks the launch of ARQUIMEA’s first Genetic Analysis product, which was created with the aim of combining medical experience with the science and technology provided by genetics to enhance people’s wellbeing.
Well_iD Derma, developed by experts in genetics and bioinformatics, allows us to discover the secrets of the skin through genetics, providing answers to questions such as: Do I have a tendency to develop spots and freckles? Does my skin have problems coping with oxidative stress? Or what is my skin’s ability to stay firm and elastic?
With a simple saliva sample, we extract DNA, sequence it and create a person’s genotype, which makes us unique from a biological point of view.
We analysed a total of 41 SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms) associated with skin health and ageing: hydration, elasticity, inflammation, pigmentation and photoageing, antioxidant capacity and excessive sweating. In this way, we obtain detailed and accurate information on the problems and needs your skin has to stay young and healthy.
Knowing the genetic predisposition allows medical professionals to complete the visual and tactile examination of the skin, providing a better understanding of what it looks like and what its needs are.
In this way, the medical professional will be able to identify personalised routines and products to improve the skin’s appearance, delay premature ageing and prevent other alterations that affect its health.
Well_iD Derma is available in medical aesthetic centres and at www.wellidtest.com, under medical prescription.
ARQUIMEA is committed to innovative solutions that combine science and technology to promote health care and a healthier lifestyle.
