The first Earth Observation German hyper-spectral mission, the EnMAP (Environmental Mapping and Analysis Program), has been successfully launched on board a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral in Florida. EnMAP will record Earth from a distance of 650 kilometres using 242 spectral channels; this data can show, for example, what minerals or pollutants are present in a given area, whether plants have an adequate supply of nutrients or whether a body of water is contaminated with pollutants.
IberEspacio (ARQUIMEA at present) has contribute to this mission with the procurement of Heat Pipes under contract with OHB.
